PROJECT Native App for Apple Watch. OBJECTIVE Design an intuitive and efficient wearable app experience that integrates seamlessly with existing scheduling systems to provide hourly retail employees with real-time, actionable insights about their work shifts, schedules, tasks, and break times—directly from their wrist. The goal is to empower employees on the go, reduce reliance on iPhones for basic scheduling details, and improve in-the-moment decision-making through context-aware alerts and streamlined interactions. The solution focuses on enhancing productivity and reducing friction by leveraging the unique strengths of wearable technology—namely, quick-glance accessibility, haptic feedback, and voice interaction. The app delivers personalized shift reminders, task updates, and status check-ins in a compact, digestible format optimized for limited screen real estate. Additionally, it considers micro-interaction design patterns, prioritization of glanceable content, and minimizing cognitive load, ensuring the employee can access key information without interrupting their workflow. The wearable becomes a natural extension of their daily routine—a real-time assistant rather than a redundant tool—improving both employee satisfaction and operational efficiency. CHALLENGE Screen real-state (form factor), dependency with iPhone (info redundancy). PERSONA(S) Hourly employee. INDUSTRY Retail, manufacturing and hospitality.
